So, I was listening to Pandora, and one of my favorite Radiohead tunes came on, Morning Bell, from their groundbreaking 2000 album Kid A, and I immediately headed for YouTube in search of a video of the band performing the song.
Much to my surprise and eventual delight, I discovered there one of the best cover song performances I’ve ever seen, a most unlikely rendition of Morning Bell using traditional Bluegrass instrumentation courtesy of mandolinist Chris Thile and his band.
It’s a potent cocktail, and here’s the recipe:
Mix one part Bill Monroe…
…with one part Radiohead…
…then shake or stir, bake or stir fry, as long as it takes, and you get this:
Yummy!!!
