Christening the Netbook

As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been waiting for this to arrive:

Well, arrive it did, and I’m happy to report that it did so in one piece and appears to be in fine working order. I’m very happy with the size, weight (incredibly light!), and the speed at which I’m able to do what I want to do: streaming Pandora while composing this in Google Chrome, about eight tabs open, including Gmail, which auto-refreshes, and Gimp is open as well, as I was doing some photo editing earlier.

Here’s some proof that I’ve actually composed this on the new netbook, courtesy of the built-in webcam, something that my old Powerbook lacked.

I know, disappointing, huh? You’d prefer a plain photo, so that, if you don’t know me, you can see what I look like?

Frankly, I’m not 100% sure why I’m still clinging to a degree of anonymity, when many of the folks who stop by here are friends and family. And yet, I’m not 100% certain that there aren’t some good reasons to be a little careful in this Facebook world of ours.

Anyway, I’m hoping that having a mobile computer again will allow me to blog more often, so we’ll see.
